BTA disburses 39 030 lats insurance indemnity for damages from a lightning strike, which is the largest indemnity for such an accident in the history of the company
In August, BTA Insurance Company SE (hereinafter – BTA) paid an insurance indemnity of 39 030 lats to a customer for a steam bath building damaged by fire caused by a lightning strike. The disbursed insurance indemnity was the highest indemnity paid for damages done by a lightning strike for the history of BTA.
The accident occurred at the end of June 2013, when, during storm, a residential and an ancillary building in Ādaži municipality were damaged by wind-torn trees falling onto them, while the adjacent steam bath building was struck by lightning. The lightning strike caused fire that did considerable damage to the steam bath building.
